Public consultation for the proposed Cataby Power Station is now open and closes on 3 November 2026. This is an opportunity for community members and other stakeholders to provide feedback on the project's Development Application.

If approved, Cataby Power Station will be a fast-start gas facility designed to provide reliable, on-demand electricity to support WA's South West Interconnected System. The project will:

  • Deliver up to 500 MW of electricity, enough to meet around 10% of peak demand on WA's main electricity grid
  • Be available 24 hours a day and ready to generate power when needed
  • Help maintain a reliable electricity supply as older coal-fired power stations retire
  • Include a community benefit sharing program developed in consultation with the local community

Feedback received during the consultation period will be considered as part of the planning assessment process. For more information, visit haveyoursay.dplh.wa.gov.au/catabypowerstation.
